Intelligent buildings Intelligent buildings – is lately a very common term used to describe modern building automation system technology. This term applies equally well to apartments, houses or offices, equipped with state of the art electronics, which are designed to improve their functionality, convenience or safety as well as to help reduce energy consumption. Intelligent building systems can comprise of a variety of different elements. Clients are generally mostly interested in systems allowing for saving of power, heating expenses or money spent on maintenance of the building, including even simple tasks, such as collection of meter readouts. The easiest method for implementing savings is smart temperature control. In this case, the system assures that at predefined hours of the day we have certain preset temperature levels in rooms occupied by people. I.e. considering that unoccupied rooms don't require heating or air conditioning, we can save tremendous amounts of energy, which directly relates to saving of money. The system assures that temperature levels are appropriately adjusted at specific times. For example - when we are at work, our intelligent home enters into standby mode, which practically does not require any energy consumption. However, before our return the system switches on the heating or air conditioning, so that there is time for the temperature to reach a level within the earlier predefined boundaries, by the time we come back. Savings in maintenance costs, especially in large buildings, can be obtained in relation to meter readout for power, hot and cold water, gas or heating. Clients today require regular billing according to actual media usage. Also EU regulations tend to go in this direction, where some countries already require for meters to be readout each month.
| Modern Intelligent Building systems allow for remote readout of meters through the building maintenance system. In case of multi-apartment buildings, or multi-office facilities, which are rented to many Companies, it is practically impossible to manually check all media meters every month, not to mention if this task was to be performed even more often. In case of Intelligent Building systems, such data acquisition poses no problem and even can be performed continuously.
Intelligent Building systems can also serve a variety of other functions – e.g. alarm, fire safety, access control, lighting control etc. The only practical limitation is the designer's imagination. Thanks to our long-term experience in this field, we are capable of designing and building practically any Intelligent Building device. Based on Client requirements, we have created a multitude of building automation devices, starting from simple temperature sensors and ending with highly complex multipurpose controllers, capable of data acquisition from hundreds of sensors as well as for controlling dozens of devices. All of our equipment has real-life application - we are proud of having already over 1000 apartments and houses in Scandinavia use our devices, with this number steadily growing.
